American Kitefliers Association was founded in 1964 by the late Robert M. Ingraham of New Mexico. Now, with over 4,000 members, in 35 countries, they are the largest association of kiters in the world. Their purpose is to educate the public in the art, history, technology, and practice of building and flying kites - to advance the joys and values of kiting in all nations.

Color the Wind Kite Festivals is a non-profit organization operated by Larry and Kay Day to provide good, clean family entertainment for kids of all ages. Color the Wind, in February, is the largest winter kite festival in the Midwest drawing kite flyers from 9 states with massive displays of huge, colorful show kites, art kites and ground displays. They fly on the frozen waters of a 3000 acre lake and have been doing this since 2000.

Drachen Foundation is a non-profit corporation devoted to the increase and diffusion of knowledge about kites worldwide. They develop workshops, touring exhibits, support projects and special events, publish books and fund kite research. They archive kiting materials and kites, and operate the Drachen Study Center in Seattle. They also have an online store.

Fort Worden Kitemakers Conference is a wonderful gathering of kite makers from all around the world. It is an opportunity to learn, share information, and socialize with kite friends, new and old. They strive to have classes for everyone. Each year the curriculum committee puts together an exceptional list of teachers with classes to accommodate all skill levels and kiting interests. Join them for an unforgettable weekend!

Kites in the Sky -- Kite Kits for Everyone. Catherine Gabrel has been flying and making kites since the 1980's. She shares her passion of kiting by making kite kits, which are not just for kids anymore. She has a complete range of U-build-em kits for "kids" of all ages. There is something wonderful about making your own flying machine -- with your art work in the sky.

Kite Studio -- Steve Ferrel has it all: kite building supplies, one of the best kite forums  and years of experience.

Skydance -- Deb Lenzen is a nationally recognized and award winning kite maker. She has single handedly put on the the three day Skydance Sakakawea Kite Festival in Garrison, North Dakota on Memorial Day weekend, since 1992.

Winds On Strings is the unofficial kite club of North Dakota run by two really energetic and committed people -- Chris Dobson and Mike Gee. They have put on one of the premier kite festivals, called Kitefest, the beginning of every June, in Jamestown, North Dakota since 1994.
